Digital transformation is described by Consulting Firm McKinsey as the process of taking corporate capabilities and transforming them into a platform of services. This platform thinking fuels the strategy and the mechanism that connect business ecosystems, enabling them to rapidly build and implement digital solutions and deliver new services.
According to the McKinsey ‘digital transformations’ report, the process will lead to digital transformation. As organizations’ digital ambitions are rapidly growing, it becomes crucial to control and improve all-digital processes that support their customer’s journey as well as leveraging data and obtain greater agility in adopting new technologies.
Companies refusing to change risk falling behind and will be caught up by digital-native challengers. Companies that fail to bridge the gap between legacy systems and modern technologies will have trouble embracing this digital transformation, which will significantly hinder their growth.
In the McKinsey report, the surveyed decision-makers say that integrating legacy systems with modern technology such as SaaS applications without disruption presents significant challenges. Another reason to seriously consider legacy modernization.
