Case study: Retirement Systems of the City of Detroit (RSCD)
Retirement Systems of the City of Detroit (RSCD), manages the pension contributions, annuity contributions, and pension payroll for all eligible City of Detroit retirees and current employees. Asysco has migrated their two mission critical payroll and annuity application systems that used to run on the Unisys A-Series mainframe to the Microsoft Windows Server platform. These systems service over 71,000 current, vested, and retired employees.
The project included conversion, testing and production delivery of legacy COBOL, XGEN, and WFLs to the Window’s platform solution supported by a Microsoft Sequel Server 2008 relational database management system.
RSCD’s mission: “To effectively manage the resources of the Retirement Systems to provide essential services to all active employees and retirees” has greatly been enhanced by migrating their mission-critical production applications to a modern, distributed-systems architecture.
